Welcome!!! I am a southeastern US artist who works in oil, water media and clay. I love to work hard, solve problems and invent through the process of experimentation and study. I enjoy adapting different media to the content of my work. I paint, sculpt and make pots. I work with several groups of artist in the Atlanta area including Cherrylion Studio, Dan Willis Studio, Marc Chatov Studio and the Portrait Society of Atlanta.
I paint still-lifes and figurative life studies every week. I currently do a lot of figurative work in the studio, as I believe it is the best way to train the eye's sensitivity to the human figure. I always have a still-life set up at home to solve a particular problem of composition, color, light or drama. My longer term goal in painting is to focus the body of my two demensional work on the figure within the landscape. I love the outdoors and spend every free momment outside. This year I will be focusing on plein air painting to strenghten my ability to quickly capture light in the landscape. |

I am currently studying painting under Marc Chatov. I have been studying with Marc for over two years. I have also participated in several workshops taught by internationally known artist such as Burt Silverman, David Leffel, John de la Vega and Margaret Dyer. I am a member of the Board of Directors with the Portrait Socitey of Atlanta and do volunteer work with the Society. I coordinate workshops taught by famous artists who visit us here in Atlanta, Georgia. It's been a great learning experience, and I've met some wonderful people through this work.

This past year I started sculpting and love it. I have completed about a dozen pieces in clay and recently had a piece bronzed. I study sculpture under Marty Daus at Cherrylion Studio. Cherrylion Studio is a large open studio inside Atlanta. It's a great atmosphere with lots of large scale projects in motion. I also sculpt at Dan Willis Studio whenever we have enough artist willing to share the cost of a model. |

I still love to work with clay on the potters wheel. There is no substitute for an afternoon on the wheel or an evening raku firing. I have a great group of friends to thank for getting me involved in pottery. I got started 4 years ago when I took a sabbatical from the corporate world. The folks that got me involved are a wonderful group of people that I had the opportunity to work with and support. In addition to their warm friendship and enough humor to last a lifetime, they gave me a potter's wheel as a send-off into my art sabbatical. I got hooked and never turned back. My husband Tom also does pottery. We built a raku kiln that we regularly fire. We are always looking for new glazes and techniques. I sell raku on EBay as well as in local shops around town.

Art is my second career, but my first passion. After serving time in the corporate world(a couple of decades at that!), I decided to make art my career. It has been a lifelong dream that I dismissed years ago as a childish pursuit. After finally realizing that I have no intention of growing up, I decided to abandon common sense for passion. I haven't regreted one day of it. The demands of the art trade suit my personality. I love to create, work hard, get my hands dirty and solve problems. My work is influenced by my life, and I have found that improvements in life and lifestyle catapult creativity. I love the outdoors, animals of all shapes and sizes, gardening, cooking, hiking and fishing. Unlike many artist, I have consciously choosen not to specialize in a specific media or subject matter. I believe a narrowly focused portfolio reflects a narrowly focused life. I am still a student and strive to continually improve my product. I find that working in different media enables a broader expression. I enjoy the challenges of adapting the appropriate media to the content of my work. |
